The Ouch Makes Us Stand

Can you remember a moment when a brilliant idea flashed into your head? It was perfect for you. And then all of the sudden from the depths of your brain ,another thought started forcing it's way forward through the enthusiasm until it finally shouted, " Yeah, great idea, but what if you fall on your face?"

What do you do when you fall on your face? Do you try to get up and hoped that no one noticed ? Are you more concerned with what other people thinks than what you can learn from this?
A very good afternoon to ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Did you felt that I stayed down too long? Have you ever stayed down too long?

I have a hero, Nick Vujicic (pronounced VOO-yee-cheech),a man born without hands and legs. When he was born, his parents were shocked of his appearance .But still with the faith in God ,they kept him. When he was schooling, his classmates laughed at him. Ouch!(sharp pain)He felt extremely difficult to cope with school works .When he was 10,he felt hopeless and attempted suicide. Ouch! (Sadly)But then his mother said to him," Son, do you know why we kept you, because we believe that you deserve to live a normal life like everyone does, we believe that you can and you are going to shine. Don't be affected by how people views, remember to be yourself son." That very moment, it changed Nick's life ,it changed Nick's perspective of life. Not to live in people's hope but in his own dreams. Then, he learnt to write, to walk ,to swim and even to surf with two tiny toes. From a man without limbs, now, he is one of the world best motivational speaker in the world. Who do you want to be? What changes do you want to make in your life? So many of us can clearly see where we want to go ,yet we go back and fourth. If I had a little more time. If I was born rich. If I was in a better school, but we never take that first step. How does Nick got so far? It is because of his perseverance that made him who he is today.

And this is also why you see me speaking her confidently. Since young, I have a dream that is to stand in a crowd and speak and share the message within me. Since standard 1 I have been participating in all types of speaking competition from Chinese , English and Malay and I lost in all of them. Ouch! ouch! I felt useless and I told my mum, " Mum, I'm bombed. I think I failed completely in speaking. "Mum, "So?"
"What do you meant so? How do you argue with so?

And then, my mum reminded me that ever speaker even someone like Nick has fallen on their face before accomplishing success. It is part of the process.

I took her words with me and continued taking part in public speaking competition. I realized that it is the step after the ouch that is so important. It's so hard, so difficult. We don't like the ouch. We don't want to take the step, but when that foot lands, you're going to like that feeling. We learn from the ouch.

Just as Nick once said “You can't even stand without risking to fall.” Nick Vujicic is an ouch master. We need to be ouch masters.

So, if you're willing to fail, you can learn anything. Now, I am speaking here to you ,now. because I took the step after the ouch.I wasn't given the gift to speak but I was given the opportunity to take the step after the ouch. So were you, What's your next step? When will you take it? Take it before it's too late.

There are times, when we are heading towards our goals, we get stuck and we can't move. If we're always so afraid of that ouch,we forget that if we lean forward and take a risk and fall on our face, we still make progress. Don't be afraid, take the pain, that ouch with you and rise from it ,stand up and keep running towards your goal. Sooner or later, you will find yourself reaching at your destination. Start now, run!
